Meatless Day Celebrations, November, 2002

Drawing Competition: "Compassion towards Animals."

25th of November, Sadhu T.L. Vaswani's birthday is celebrated worldwide as "International Meatless Day", and "International Animal Rights Day".

To Celebrate this day, the Sadhu Vaswani Center, Colon, held a drawing competition for the children of primary level in the thirteen public schools of Colon. Each school was invited to send 30 selected students.

The theme of the competition was "Compassion towards Animals". The purpose of this competition was to inculcate in the children and their parents, Love, Compassion and Respect towards animals.

The competition was divided into 3 categories:

Category I: Students of 1st and 2nd Standard
Category II: Students of the 3rd and 4th Standard
Category III: Students of the 5th and 6th Standard

The Governess of Colon: Luciana P. de Policani was the Chief Guest.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education, and various spiritual organizations of Colon: ISKCON, Radha Soami Satsang, Dada Mahtani Satsang, Sai Baba Center among others were invited to judge the drawings.

There were 5 winners per category, and were awarded certificates and prizes. The prizes included Bicycles, Electronic Organs, Video Games.

All the participants were given a participation gift of electronic handheld games. Refreshments were also provided after the competition.

About the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Biographies of Sadhu T.L. Vaswani and Dada J.P. Vaswani. Charter of Animal Rights, Famous Vegetarians.

Meatless Day Pledges were also collected. The first to sign the pledges was the Governess of Colon Luciana P. de Policani.

Afterwards, all the guests and the judges were treated to a vegetarian feast.
